Château La Mission Haut-Brion Rouge
tasting notes
The wine is a striking color that has begun to show a good concentration.
The first whiff of sweet pepper disappears when the potent richness of matured fruit takes over.
Ripe plum, and above all stone fruits abound.
In the mouth the wine is silky, delicious and complex.
The finale is soft and delicate but one notices the smoky bouquet towards its end
along with a trace of acidity that simply adds to the volume.
It is a very good bottle for this year.
The weather
A hot, dry start to the year led to exceptionally early growth in the spring. There was unprecedented flowering on the vines at the end of April. At the beginning of May, showers delayed the end of flowering by more than a month. The September drought made for a trouble-free harvest and compensated for the uneven ripening.
