1993
Château La Mission Haut-Brion Rouge
tasting notes
This year has very good color. It has a clean, powerful, extremely complex nose.
Fruits are omnipresent. The wine is very lively.
In the mouth the powerful aroma of ripe fruits,
such as mulberries and the fleshy part of ripe plums, astounds.
The tannin is well-balanced and ripe and
gives a rather unexpected harmony to the vintage.
The finale is soft and delicate. It is an exceptional bottle that illustrates well the
capability of La Mission to do great things with an unexceptional millésime.
The weather
A warm spring brought on early budding. Through June, the weather was very good. The flowering was uniform. After a bout of cold weather August was pretty warm. August makes the must is a local adage. The grapes were remarkably healthy and ripened well. The rainy weather with one or two storms did not affect them at all.
